Things To Do When In A Rut

Following the same routine for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year sometimes gets to us and makes us feel that we’re stuck in some sort of a rut, getting away from which seems impossible to us.
Doing the same set of things over and over again takes away every bit of the motivation we have inside, and the situation can get much worse if we decide not to do something about it.

When you are stuck in a rut, running simple errands feel like an impossible task to you. You often find yourself making an excuse to miss out on a social gathering, and even might “not feel like” doing anything at all.
Then comes a wave of self-doubt that gets to us and start feeling like our efforts are not actually worth it.

Then comes a wave of self-doubt that gets to us and start feeling like our efforts are not actually worth it.
Before starting with the possible solutions to the problem, here’s something comforting that you would probably like to hear right now: it’s okay to feel demotivated sometimes, it happens to all of us. Also, getting this feeling away from us is also quite simple if you are eager to do something for yourself.

Here, through this article, we are going to tell you 5 amazing ways to push yourself out from a rut!

What is NOT serving me:
We have a sum total of 24 hours to spare on different things on a daily basis. Sleeping takes a major share of those 24 hours which is entirely important to give us a big push the very next day.
In a nutshell, we are left with about 14 hours that we have to assign to different jobs.
All of us have a limited amount of energy to exhaust on odd jobs, routine stuff, and work that is important.
Ask yourself – Are you actually spending a part of your energy into something that isn’t even serving you in the long run?
Picking up on the main problem is always crucial because if not, you’d always go for the wrong solutions to feel better.

Am I moving towards the Fulfillment of My Personal Goals?
Leading a life without a goal can be monotonous. Not setting proper goals might be one of the reasons for you to feel stuck in a rut. We all need an objective to wake up to, a dream to work harder for, and milestones to reach.
Sit down with a pen and a paper and jot down things that you feel your life is missing out on. It could enlist anything from materialistic gains to spiritual ones.
If you already have your goals set then introspect and know if you are actually moving towards them through your actions or not? Sometimes we have the objectives set out in front of us but not the action plans.

Is there a behavioral pattern that I feel stuck into?
There are days when you can’t get yourself to wake up early, or make your bed, or even do your routine tasks. It feels more like a trap that you can’t escape which slowly turns into a behavioral pattern that might make the situation even worse.
Ask yourself – Do you often start getting the same kind of thoughts? Or does the same kind of things start happening to you all over again?
If yes, it might be a behavioral pattern that is much tough to be broken.
But the good news is that these kinds of patterns can be whipped out of your routine with constant efforts and a lot of patience.

Who Do I Need to Cut Off from Life?
There are people who lift you up when you feel down, adore you, say good things about you, and just want to make you happy. Yes, we all are blessed to have that lot in our lives.
On the other hand, there are certainly a set of people who drain you of all the energy without even letting you know. These people can be anyone from a negative colleague to naysayers to even a special person who holds a toxic relationship with you.
For your own sake, it is very important to just cut these people of your lives or if not, maintain a safe distance from their toxicity. It might be hard for some people, but it’s better than letting them drain you off all your energy.

What all is acting up as a distraction?
Distraction and things that distract you can be quite relative. A distraction can be induced by a person, a bad habit, or an urge to do it all at once like binge-watching an entire season in a single day.
The best advice out here is to keep it all together and start fighting your distractions. Self-control is the key to a positive & mindful life.
First and foremost of all, you would need to prepare a list of things that distract you and then work on each one of them separately.

For example, binge-watching TV shows late night on Netflix is one of your distractions because of which you are not able to wake up early in the morning – try to minimize the duration significantly each day until you reach a point that it is under your acontrol.
